Repertoire

Charlotte Rowan’s programming is distinguished by its breadth and intellectual curiosity. Her curation is centred on placing great music within broader cultural, historical and human narratives and are developed with both artistic depth and strong audience engagement in mind.

Alongside the core violin repertoire, she is dedicated to expanding the instrument’s literature: reviving neglected masterpieces, commissioning and championing contemporary composers, exploring cross-cultural influences, and setting familiar masterpieces in a fresh context. Her programmes bridge connections across musical traditions, bringing contemporary voices into dialogue with the established canon.

At the heart of her artistic vision is a belief that classical music can still speak powerfully to the questions and complexities of contemporary life. By placing repertoire in meaningful contexts, she seeks to create concert experiences that are intellectually engaging, emotionally resonant, and accessible to diverse audiences.
